I have taken courses with a focus on:
- Copyediting and proofreading (at SFU, UBC, and Queens)
- Plain Language writing (at SFU and UBC)
- Grammar (at the University of Toronto)
- Plain Graphics and Design (at SFU)
- Academic Editing (through Editors Canada)
This coursework has enhanced by ability to edit research proposals and manuscripts for clarity, concision, and accessibility for people with disabilities.
To supplement my continuing professional development, I also facilitate an editing book club, which meets monthly.
In May 2018, I won the Editors Canada – Claudette Upton Scholarship, the national editing award for emerging editors.
