I received the President's Award because of my work on a task force to redesign the organization's criteria for Honorary Life Membership.
Drawing on my expertise drafting, editing, and adjudicating grants and awards, I and my task force colleagues worked to develop transparent criteria and processes for awarding Honorary Life Membership within the organization.
My affiliation with Editors Canada has been crucial to my growth within the editing profession, and I'm proud to have my contributions recognized at the national level.
I have also written posts for the Editors Canada blog, including:
- "How I’m Hiring a Student to Support My Freelance Editing Business": on the federal funding strategies currently available for student workers, and how editors can tap into these to support their freelance businesses (8 December 2020).
- "Top Three Fixes for Academic Research Grant Applications": on the strategies I'd apply if I only had a short time to edit a grant application (24 March 2020).
- "Introducing Editor and Poet Margo LaPierre": on the 2019 winner of the Claudette Upton Scholarship (25 June 2019).
- "More Twitter for Wordies": on the vexed politics of engaging in the social media platform Twitter (18 September 2018).
